Hello, I am Josef (Seppel) Egger.  My wife Jacqueline and I own Casa Sejala, this home which is set up to be a children’s respite home or orphanage.  We bought the historic, beachfront mansion in 2008 – after volunteering at the Mother Theresa orphanage / daycare in Salvador, Brazil – and have lovingly restored the house for the sole purpose of living here and adopting, caring for and raising 10 orphaned Brazilian children.

We embarked on our journey to love and care for these children out of a heartfelt desire to change the lives of some poor, forgotten children in Brazil.  Three lovely children initially came to live with us at Casa Sejala, on a pre-arranged 2 month respite basis from the local orphanage.   Not only were we able to help change their lives – they changed ours.

Unfortunately, our finances collapsed during the global financial crisis, and we have been forced to return to our home of Australia – and hopefully to pass on our dream to someone else.  Could that someone be you?
